Australia is notorious for crying wolf at violent video games, and require an amount of censorship and editing for the games to be released, however we may have scratched their casing with Dead Island.
Dead Island is the new zombie game, and it’s all the rage. Violence isn’t hiding in easter eggs around this game, within the first five minutes you can be chopping off legs, decapitating zombies, and dismembering other human-like figures left and right. Australia is notorious for having to fight through to get violent video games rated and not banned in their country, however Dead Island sneaks by, allowing Australian gamers the chance to join the rest of us in some co-op killin’ madness.
Dead Island found a way to get an MA 15+ rating, which is the highest age restriction in the country, and this was for its “strong horror violence”, and blood. This game was able to squeek by when somehow left 4 Dead 2 required that it’s content was edited in order to be released.
Deep Silver, when asked by Destructoid if they had edited anything had said “Stunningly enough, we didn’t do a thing to it,”
There is not only a sigh of relief, yet a rejoicing going on in Australia as they join us on their consoles with their taste of equal blood and gore.
