Pokemon to not have any mobile games, only promotional apps.

Many gamers are looking for new ways to play Pokemon on-the-go, but Nintendo says that there’s only one way to do it. On a Nintendo device.

The Pokemon Company is going to be releasing an app for the iPhone and Andriod platforms titled Pokemon Say Tap? BW. This app, however, is not related to any of the popular Pokemon gaming titles that is published by Nintendo, instead this is a promotional spin-off card-based rhythm game.

But don’t get your hopes up with that because we can’t expect to see any of our favorite Pokemon games showing up somewhere other than the Nintendo platforms, the company was rather quick to shut down the idea of any type of mobile release.

The Japanese company had explained that they are not involved in any mobile gaming outings for the Pokemon games, while they also cited that the app is only promotional material that is Controlled by The Pokemon Company.

“On July 1, the Pokémon Company announced that it was launching a free Android and iOS application in Japan,” said Nintendo. “The Pokémon Company routinely launches applications for cell phones and PCs as a way to promote its non-video game products, such as a music CD and Pokémon TCG [Trading Card Game] cards in this instance. Since they are intended purely as promotional tools, not as unique video games, Nintendo is not involved in any way.”

The statement continues. “All Pokémon video game content will continue to appear exclusively on Nintendo platforms. As stated previously, Nintendo has no intention or plans of publishing its IP on non-Nintendo platforms. This is an example of a promotion by a key Nintendo partner and has no bearing on Nintendo’s overall strategy.”

So, sorry Pokemon fans but you’ll have to stick to the classic Nintendo platform.

However, they will be launching Pokemon Say Tap? BW, which will use Music and no screen Pokemon cards in a time rhythm game. The app is free and supposed to be out this summer, this will be the closest you can get to your non-nintendo experience.
