This team based shooter game was released in 2010, and it definitely puts a new spin on the old American west. You get to role play as characters that lived, and fought, in the days of dusty streets, six guns, and horses. There have been a lot of mixed reviews concerning this game, and there have been a lot of comparison between it and games like Team Fortress 2. We believe you need to give this little jewel a try for yourself, and you, be the judge.

Concept
The game features players playing as one of four different classes of old west inhabitants. Each particular class has its own weapon of preference, and they each have their own special skills to help you through some of the missions you will face.

The Blaster is more of a defensive player, and prefers a double barreled shotgun, and his dynamite to the other weapons. The deputy is better with his carbine rifle and comes in handy to tag the bad guys for his team members. The gunslinger is of course an expert with his revolver, and his special power is increased accuracy with your weapon. Be careful when you fire the weapon in rapid succession because this causes you to be less accurate. The last class is that of the old west trapper and they have special skills that make the hits they make be critical more often than the hits from other classes. Trappers have hunting rifles with scopes, and they of course have traps that can immobilize an enemy.

It is very easy to become immersed in the different characters and the role they play on the team. When a player begins to run low on energy they can automatically rebuild by sticking close to the others that are on their team.

Graphics
The visual effects are good, sometimes cheesy, but good. The characters are drawn well and are entertaining to watch. Visually these games usually fall short of spectacular because the design team was more focused on game play, and on scenarios that could happen than they were on the basic look of the game.

Sound
The soundtrack fits well with the visuals, and is sometimes amusing. With this much gunfire and dynamite you knew it would be loud.

Playability
There is not a person that can use a mouse that cannot play this game. For all of you who are worried about the skill required, and the experience at games like this one, you can set your fears to rest. All you need to have is a little time to play and in no time at all you will be cleaning up the old west, stealing gold, and making a name for yourself.

Entertainment
Without a doubt this is one of the better third person shooter games that has been introduced in the last ten years. It is fun, and interesting. The characters give you plenty of choice on how you want to play, and there are six different playing modes. You are not going to buy this game and play for a week only to become bored with it. You are going to have hours and hours of play from this one.

Replay Value
Lead and Gold has got absolutely one of the highest replay values for any game that we have ever reviewed. The game allows for the player to select their playing character from one of four different classes. So each player can have a new experience just by selecting a different class.

The four selections of characters make replay worth doing, but what about the fact that the game has a total of six different playing modes. So the player can choose their favorite modes, or challenge themselves with a mode they do not frequently play. There is no end to the playing possibilities, and the hours of fun you can have with this game.
