Arsenal of Democracy is a strategy game created by Paradox Interactive. It is different from the other stimulation games and strategy games offered by Paradox so far. The first thing to keep in mind is that this game is hard and is a strategy game. It has been made from inspirations like Hearts of Iron, but it focuses more on the global attack rather than the economic based approach. People that played Hearts of Iron series will feel right at home without any necessary of using the Tutorial. However, there might be players that still have not played Hearts of Iron, and for those players, the game has tutorial which helps the beginner of the player understand every concept of the game.
Concept
The concept of the game is to control a nation’s leader and make that nation one of the strongest in the world. The player needs to keep in mind the economic growth of the country along with espionage attacks that can be plotted against the nation. However, there is the helpful option of espionage for players, as well. This game is tough and might take longer than expected. There are campaign lengths from months of battle in the game world extending up to years of battle without any stop within the game world. Which means each campaign can take around days or weeks to complete.
Graphics
The graphics of this game is similar to Hearts of Iron series but better. The graphics is almost same as the Darkest Hour game but much better, and the real battle mode can be experienced in this game. In hearts of Iron, there was not real life battle experience for the player could see some parts of the battle. However, people can see that in the graphics area of this game. The graphics might not be flashy and high, but it is in standard quality as players who play the game will not have any eye problems due to playing the game for long hours.
Sound
The sound quality of the game is average and not high as the players will experience normal music when different situations are viewed on the monitor of the PC. There are few soundtracks that will automatically start playing when different scenarios start in the game. For example if a battle took place and the player lost the battle there will be a sad tone for few seconds. When the player wins there will be a roar of the military forces the player controls from his or her nation.
Playability
The game is long and hard, and players will be engaged in the game for weeks and months. It is a solid game and much more advanced than Hearts of Iron. However, the game is not too difficult for the game cannot be understood even after going through the tutorials. If a player goes through the tutorial, then he or she will have no problems playing the game. There are multi player options in the game where 24 players can play together in the game. It is enjoyable and players enjoy playing the game.
Entertainment
The game is entertaining as it offers multi player options, which Hearts of, Iron did not provide. The standard graphics and sound makes the gaming experience last longer without many difficulties. Players will not get bored of the game if they have played Hearts of Iron before as the game reflects to the Hearts of Iron series, and makes the game look better than the Series.
Replay Value
The game excites new players to such an extent that they play long hours of multi player mode with their friends, and families which helps the players to come back for more gaming experience. As the player can first play as by controlling a single nation and play against the computer. Later on the player can play with different players that will play in the multi player mode of the game.
Overall the game can be rated at 4 out of 5 as the game has matured understanding of strategic concepts. Keeping in mind the concepts the game has made itself better than the Hearts of Iron series and has provided better storyline for players to play without any boredom. Players experience real life like experience in the game which helps them stimulate different aspects of a nation. Players will be attracted to the game for some time.
