Darkest Hour is one of the top-selling games available in the market. It is compatible mainly with computers and the different servers that the computer uses. Darkest Hour is an expansion pack from the game of Hearts of Iron. The game was released in April of 2011 and so it is one of the latest games that are around. The game will be loved by people that love to play strategic games, as the view of the game is through a large map where many plots can be made for a battle plan. The game can keep its players busy for weeks with this game as the level of complexity builds with every level.

Concept
The concept of the game is depicted from the history of the world. The main concept line is around the both the exciting world wars that took part in the history of mankind. Player can start the game from either 1914 at the start of the First World War or from 1936 from the start of the Second World War. The storyline of the game can also be changes according to the player. If a player wants Germany to be the peace-loving nation, then the player can have Germany battling for control in the world. The game advances in a critical level after some levels and finishing the game can take longer than expected. Concept of the game is enjoyable.

Graphics
The graphics of Darkest Hour is not that high as the game is based on a map type arena where the player commands the armies, and the resources of that nation which the player can control when he plays the game. The graphics is better from the predecessor which was Hearts of Iron. However, the graphics does not match up highly with the latest games that are out for players to play.

Sound
The sound of the game is almost as same as one of its predecessors which were Hearts of Iron 2. Some music was taken from that game, and the rest were made. The music is magical as they use landscape music of wars and peaceful melodies when peace time is available. The music has war type soundtracks that are used for war movies.

Playability
The game play is challenging even for advanced level players. As this game is the successor of all the strategic games offered by Paradox, the game itself is a masterpiece of strategic maneuvers.  There are times when the game can be harder than thought out to be, and only fans of the series of Hearts of Iron can know the true value of this game. Once the game has been played the player will be hooked to it for weeks and even months if the player truly understands the game. The levels will start to get harder after the first six levels have been completed. The game is extremely hard for novice players and success can take a long time if the player plays this game without playing the other games. The playability is truly a masterpiece and true gamers will understand the difficulty.

Entertainment
The game is hugely entertaining and helps a lot for players that want to broaden their strategic skills. The game will leave the players hooked with the game for weeks without any problems. The objective of the game is to let the new generation have an idea about the two chief world wars, and make the experience fun for the players. Players engage with other nations throughout the era and advances. The game even has settings for the cold war of Russia and many other wars.

Reply Value
The replay value of Darkest Hour is unusually high as the same player can play as the other nations in the game. The player can play as the Americans or the Germans. The player can also play as the Russians and Japanese. Player will be responsible of the whole decision making of that nation that he controls.

The game overall is a brilliant strategy game but the levels are more difficult than expected by many players. However, this level of difficulty was expected by players of its former series and so it is not a surprise that this game is still played by players, and they want to play it again and again.
