In case you do not recall, Majesty was introduced in 2000, along with a classic called the Sims. Majesty allows you to control, maybe that is not the correct term, instead we will say that it allows you to suggest to the people residing in the world of the game what you would like them to do. As you know, the fact that you want someone to do something does not mean they are going to do it. However, we all fell in love with the simplicity of the games, and with the utter fascination we quickly developed with the imaginary world on our computer. It did not take long for us to discover that if we have an imaginary world where we are the ruling force, we will return to it almost fanatically to ensure our wishes are being carried out.

Concept
Original, pleasing, intriguing, delightful, one of a kind, and the list could go on forever. This was one of the games that helped to shape some of the future games we were going to see come our way. You were suddenly in charge of a virtual world. The people who lived in this realm needed you to help them build dwellings, and to help them find and gather resources. Their very lives depend on your planning and your execution for their survival, and we liked the power it gave us.

Graphics
In the year 2000 when this game was introduced the graphics were great. They were new and fresh, like nothing we had ever seen before, but definitely things we would see again and again. When something works we continue to use it until it just does not work anymore. Today we look at these visual effects and we are automatically quick to say how lame and dated they are, how they have been used a hundred times or more, without thinking about the real time line when they were installed in this game.

Sound
The soundtrack is surprisingly simple, and pleasing. There is not much to elaborate on here.

Playability
Majesty is filled with different qualities that make it a good game to play for everyone that wants to play. One of those qualities is the fact that a strategy game builds more on the players persistent revisiting at the appropriate times than it does with a lot of computer skills. Because of this all players stand an equal chance in playing the game. Another big plus that Majesty has going for it is the wonderfully low price it can be purchased at. For a lot less than $10 dollars you can own this game and you can be master of your own little universe.

Entertainment
The game is absolutely delightful, and at times you can say it is riveting. You want to know if your strategy works out, and you begin to think about the characters you have living in this virtual world like you would think about people in your neighborhood.

Replay Value
The repeated play of a game is a very individual preference. While some people can play a game of this type over and over without becoming bored, there are others who will play the game once and then never revisit it. It is hard to judge how people will view the replay value of a game from this genre, but we will venture to guess that either you will not be able to get enough, or you will play once, enjoy the game, and then never play again.
